Wei Huang  
Newa Technology Inc.
Wei Huang has more than 25yr experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with expertise in CMC process development, cGMP manufacturing facility design construction, and validation, quality system implantation, manufacturing operation management. She is a principal consultant at Newa Technology, her clients included Novartis, Roche (Genentech), Amgen, Astrazeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, Gilead, Bayer, Novo Nordics, etc. Her recent projects include the design of multiple single use technology based clinical and commercial manufacturing plants in US, UK and China. She also led the CMO search and audit for multiple clients, participated in the technology transfer and clinical manufacturing at CMO site, quality document review and approval. Prior to founding Newa, she was the VP of process development and engineering at REG life science, where she led a team of 60 plus people successfully deliver the first commercial product. She was responsible for process development, optimization, scale up, manufacturing plant design and construction, plant operation at multiple sites. Prior to that, Wei was the Director of Process Technology at Fluor Corporation where she led the design and construction of more than 20 biopharmaceutical manufacturing projects around the world total project value exceeded $2.5 billion. Wei was the project manager at New Brunswick Scientific, where she was responsible for bioreactor design and fabrication. Early in her career, Wei worked as process development engineer at North American Vaccine (Baxter) where she was part of the team that successfully brought the first acellular pertussis vaccine to the market. Wei holds numerous publications, conference presentations, and one book chapter. She won ISPE 2001 article of the year award. She was the course director for ASME Bioprocess Seminar for five years where she trained hundreds of professionals in the biopharmaceutical industry. She is also member of BPE, responsible for setting the design and quality standard for the pharmaceutical industry. Wei also volunteered many professional organizations such as ISPE, CABS, AIChE. Wei held a BS in Biochemical Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology, MS in Chemical Engineering from University of Maryland.

Wei is a life time CABS member since 2009. She has an active and contributing member of CABS, served as Co-chair of Business and Career Development, Funding Raising, and International Collaboration Committee in the past 9 years.
Election Statement
It certainly has been a rewarding experience being part of the CABS family. Over the last 10yr, I have witnessed the extraordinary growth of the organization, expanding its footprint beyond the bay area, connecting thousands of professionals globally, providing training and opportunities for career and business advancement, and leading educational discussion at the forefront of scientific discovery. As a longtime active member and officer, I was fortunate to meet and work closely with so many talented and passionate members, some of them I have developed meaningful friendship with at both professional and personal level. Through my tenure at CABS, with the support of the CABS leadership team and members, I have help launched new programs such as “Careers Beyond Science and Technology”, CBBR (Cross Boarder Business Road Show) and our very own Toastmaster Club. I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving the CABS members in the following areas

• Continue membership growth especially in the medical device and new therapeutic area
• Expand scientific and technology seminars and conference topics to include best practice in the area of drug/device manufacturing and regulatory compliance
• Work with other organizations and government agencies to further strengthen CABS global position and industrial recognition

Highlight of Key Achievements at CABS

1. Manage internal communication among committee co-chairs, presidents and board of advisors within CABS as well as external communication between CABS and partner organizations. Organized regular EC meet, transition meeting, post-BioPacific celebration meeting and Christmas party.
2. Built a strong operation office team for CABS that efficiently took care of logistics for numerous meetings and supported various committees for the organization of their events.
3. Identified and secured long-term sponsor HanQI Invest Inc that provided meeting space for CABS at no cost since 2014. Identified video company that saved 2/3 of cost for event coverage.
4, Extensive experience with logistics for the BioPacific conference that I helped organize for the past 7 years.
5, Led Social Life Committee team for the planning and execution of community events that enhanced CABS awareness and image; for example, Chinese New Year Party, Summer BBQ, Investment, Trust, Tax, Real-estate worship.
6, Received Extraordinary Leadership Awards for 2017. Received President’s Recognition Award for 2014 and 2015. Received Outstanding Service Award for 2013
Election Statement
I have served CABS for 10 years and I have witnessed the growth and influence of CABS not only in the Bay area but also in the US, China and Singapore. I am very proud to have been part of the organizing team that fostered this growth.

If I am elected, I will continue to improve the quality of the BioPacific Conference and will attract biopharmaceutical professionals and investors globally. I will also increase public awareness of CABS and the BioPacific Conference with mainstream organizations. I will establish collaborations with other alliance organizations.

I will build strong CABS core EC teams by providing leadership training and organizing team-work activities. I will continue to attract new members by promoting benefits to participants, such as networking between CABS and other professional organizations, CAN program, E-club, job fair and social activities.
