CABS Career Advisory Network (CAN) Program Introduction Meeting

Date: 2012-03-26 Time: 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Location: Li Ka Shing Center Room 130, 291 Campus Drive, Stanford, California
Description:
In keeping with its mission of engendering professional interaction and development within the biotech/pharma industry, the Chinese-American BioPharmaceutical Society (CABS) is offering a free mentoring program, the Career Advisory Network (CAN), to help advance career goals of its active members.

Program Information
CAN 2012 is a six-month program with four 1:1 mentoring meetings and one mid-term group network session. We have lined up an exceptional group of mentors for 2012. Once matched, mentees will meet with their mentor monthly to discuss specific career-building topics. As part of the process, participants will create a personal strategic plan for identifying ways to achieve career goals. General discussion guides will be provided for topics such as networking skills, career transition and development, leadership from Asian perspective, and others based on individual needs.

CAN program has been successfully held for the past two years and received many positive feedbacks. It is an excellent opportunity to interact and network with a diverse group of people in academia and industry in a supportive and informal setting. In addition, it is an excellent opportunity to give and receive one-on-one mentoring and to expand your professional network.

We have recruited ~29 mentors this year with diverse expertise and experiences encompassing pharmaceutical R&D, biotechnology development, medical devices, project management, business development, patent law, management consulting, venture capital and entrepreneurs. 2012 CAN program will provide our members an interactive relationship with mentors discussing personalized career issues such as work life balance, transition alternative career path, entrepreneurship in US and China, workplace interpersonal skills and managerial skills.

We highly encourage you to attend our introduction meeting to mix with other mentors and mentees. You will have the opportunity of identifying a mutually agreed-upon mentor or mentee at the meeting. Participation is limited. Priority for mentor/mentee matching will be given to event attendees.
