CABS 2026 EC&Board Member Summer BBQ: Connecting, Inspiring, and Serving Together

On June 27, 2026, the CABS 2026 Executive Committee (EC) & Board Summer BBQ, organized by the Office of Operations and the Social Life Committee, brought together EC members and Board of Directors (BOD) members for an afternoon of great food, networking, and team building at Central Park in San Mateo, California.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from CABS President Sihong Zhou, who reaffirmed CABS' mission of fostering collaboration, supporting education, and serving the life science community.

Over a delicious BBQ and refreshments, members had the opportunity to connect in a relaxed setting. A highlight of the event was the leadership sharing session, where the President, President-Elect, BOD members, and Committee Co-Chairs shared their CABS journeys, the work of their committees, and the impact of volunteering. Their stories reflected the dedication behind CABS' continued success and inspired both new and long-serving EC members to serve the organization with greater confidence, enthusiasm, and purpose.

The afternoon concluded with three fun team-building games—Ball Alley, Speed Guess, and Lucky 7. Filled with laughter, friendly competition, and prizes, the games strengthened teamwork, communication, and friendships across the CABS volunteer community.

More than just a summer gathering, the EC Summer BBQ celebrated the spirit of volunteerism, leadership, and collaboration that defines CABS. By learning from one another and building stronger connections, we continue to cultivate a vibrant volunteer community and expand our impact in the life science field.
